Some languages supported by Tux Paint do not use Latin characters (e.g., "ABC xyz"); for example, Chinese and Korean.
For Tux Paint to display its interface in these languages, extra fonts are needed. These fonts can be quite large, however, so they are not included along with Tux Paint itself. They can be downloaded separately, here.
Note: Fonts for the following locales are included in the main Tux Paint package (since version 0.9.26): Arabic, Chinese (Traditional) (only what's necessary to run Tux Paint), Georgian, Greek, Gujarati, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, Tamil, Thai, and Tibetan.
Downloading the Fonts:
Windows
Simply download the installer EXE files for fonts and double-click them to begin the installation procedure. (Note: The fonts are installed into Tux Paint only; not into your Windows system in general.)
macOS
Simply download the installer app's DMG and and double-click them to begin the installation procedure.
RedHat Linux
RPMs packages containing the fonts are available. They will be installed in the appropriate place for Tux Paint to find them.
Other Linux and BSD
Download the ".tar.gz
" archives of the fonts you need. Once extracted, "cd
" into the subdirectory that's created and run the command "make install
" from a terminal. This will install the font.
