Tux Paint 0.9.32 — January 2023
All Versions (global issues)
- Tux Paint loads very slowly
- The first time Tux Paint is launched (for a particular user), it may take a minute or more to respond. The font system used by Tux Paint (Pango) is creating a 'cache' of information about the fonts on your system. Subsequent launches of Tux Paint should be fast.
While the font cache is generated behind the scenes, Tux Paint should remain interactive (showing an animated 'please wait' animation) while this process runs.

macOS- and OS X-specific issues
- 'Unidentified developer' error
- Recent versions of macOS have default security settings that prevent programs which were downloaded outside of Apple's "App Store" from being launched.
Apple provides instructions here for installing and launching apps from "unidentified developers."
Linux-specific issues

Android-specific issues
- Why is Tux Paint for Android so large now?
- As of Tux Paint 0.9.30, the entire Stamps collection is bundled with the application. We do not yet have a simple way to provide them as an optional add-on. Due to popular demand, we opted to include them. In version 0.9.32, we greatly reduced the download and storage size required for the stamps.
- On Chromebooks, the mouse is missing in Tux Paint for Android
- Please download Tux Paint 0.9.32-BF1 (Bug Fix 1), also known as

, or later, which should address this issue. You may need to adjust "Cursor" setting via the "Tux Paint Config." tool (included with Tux Paint for Android). Quit Tux Paint, launch Tux Paint Config., make sure the "Cursor" setting is set to "Show the cursor", and click "Save and quit" at the bottom. Then re-launch Tux Paint and the mouse should be visible. - On Chromebooks, Tux Paint appears very small within a larger window
- Look for a pull-down menu at the top of the window. If it shows "Phone", click it and change the setting to "Tablet". If no such option exists, check Tux Paint's "App Info" and make sure the "Preset window sizes" option is enabled.
- Tux Paint crashes when using the Import Data option
- This option is no longer relevant, and attempting to use it can cause the app to crash on some Android devices. Please download Tux Paint 0.9.32-BF1 (Bug Fix 1), also known as
9321
, or later, which should address this issue. - Tux Paint cannot export pictures
- Please download Tux Paint 0.9.32-BF2 (Bug Fix 2), also known as
9322
, or later, which should address this issue.
