Why Buy a Disc?

Tux Paint is large

Tux Paint — together with its collection of over 250 stamp images and sounds, configuration tool for parents and teachers, and documentation — weighs in at over 20 megabytes. That would take nearly an hour to download using dialup on a 56.6kbps modem — and that's only for one platform!

A disc is easier to carry

Having a CDROM version also allows you to quickly install Tux Paint on all of the computers in your house or school, without having to first download, and then copy numerous files to floppy disks. (Besides, Tux Paint is too large to fit on a typical 3.5" floppy disk.)

You can still share it!

More importantly, you can quickly and easily share Tux Paint with your friends and family, your children's friends, or your local school. (Just as with Tux Paint downloaded off of the Internet, you are allowed to share and copy the CDROM, too!)

Snack money

Tux Paint's lead developer and project manager, Bill Kendrick, receives a small percentage of each sale to help pay for website bandwidth, development hardware, food and fun!
